In December 2020, the demand for China's export container transportation market continued to be high. At the same time, the shortage of space and the shortage of empty containers led to the formation of a seller's market. The booking freight rate of most routes has experienced several rounds of sharp rises, and the composite index has continued to rise rapidly.
In December, the average China Export Container Freight Index published by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange was 1446.08 points, an average increase of 28.5% over the previous month; the average Shanghai Export Container Freight Index reflecting the spot market was 2382.06 points, which was higher than the previous month. The average monthly increase was 31.4%.
